The Clothing Bank

It was suggested that people coming to visit Israel and are stopping in Tzfat bring with them a blanket, or a coat, a sweater, hats or gloves to help those in need be warm in the rainy, foggy and chilly Tzfat winters. Individuals and organizations from the USA and Canada have answered the call and responded so generously. Large numbers of plastic bags, suitcases and duffel bags filled with new, or nearly new, warm clothing for adults and children, baby clothes and blankets of all kinds have found their way to Tzfat via bus, taxi, ship, mail and even by private cars.

Clothes & moreSeven sales were held in different parts of the city allowing easy access for the shoppers for whom car ownership is a luxury. Shoppers were able to buy quality, warm clothing that they could not otherwise afford. Volunteers distributed the unsold items to needy families located throughout the city. A specialty sale of coats and sweaters was well attended in spite of being held on an unseasonably hot day in late September. Hardly anything remained at the end of the day. The money from the sale was put into the Food Fund.

In addition to the items above, groups or individuals touring Israel are encouraged to bring the following; Toothbrushes & paste, particularly for children; Large cloth dolls with attached clothes; Large stuffed animals; Small stuffed animals; Baby toys and crib toys that hang above the crib; White shirts for men and boys (short and long-sleeved); New panties for women and girls; Underwear, new, for boys and men; Board games like checkers, chess, simple visual children's games based on colors and sizes, etc. (Language barrier to be considered)

Outside our clothing storeWe recently opened a small store where people can come once a week a purchase items at a very reduced rate. This allows families to be outfitted for far less than the normal costs.
